Hillary Clinton strongly supporting for Women’s Right for getting Equal Pay
While addressing Democratic Women’s Council in
Columbia, S.C., May 27, 2015, Mrs Clinton observed that
now, democrats are ready
to find a solution to equal pay for men and women. If Republicans would
stand with Democrats, we, can, in fact could fix this even today but we cannot
expect such cooperation from the Republicans. She recalled how one Republican
candidate dismissed equal pay as ‘a bogus issue.’ Another Republicans
commented how Congress was ‘wasting time’ perturbing about it. One
Republican even commented that initiatives to pledge fair pay reminded him of
the Soviet Union. And to that she asked: In which century are they living now?”
Clinton is mentioning to a quote from Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R),
who in 2012 signed a repeal of a 2009 law that permitted equal-pay lawsuits to
be filed both in federal and state
court,. Walker argument was that the law — which was designed and enacted when
Democrats controlled the Wisconsin state government — was duplication and “could block up the legal system,” as there were other administrative and federal
options available.
Clinton also attacked Sen. Marco Rubio (Fla.), who, like all Senate
Republicans, contrasted the Democratic-sponsored Paycheck Fairness Act. Again,
the battle defenses between the parties were strained over whether the law would end up in the flooding of litigation.
Clinton also attacked the attitude of Paul who vehemently criticized the Paycheck Fairness Act for encouraging litigation, saying the proposed law
would handover more authorities to courts and judges to decide whether women
are paid justly, which Paul said would disrupt free-market principles. It was
in that context that Paul made the reference to the Soviet Union:
Again, Clinton is signifying that antagonism to a Democratic-sponsored
bills connotes antagonism to equal pay for women. Clinton is signifying
that opposition to bills fashioned by Democrats — which Republicans said would embolden
litigation — is equal to not kind about the gender pay gap that exist in USA as
of date.
