Hillary Clinton is the first woman in the 240-year history of the United States to lead the presidential ticket of a major political party.

A Historic Moment to Celebrate !!

Hillary Clinton clinched the Democratic presidential nomination, according to CNN's delegate and superdelegates count, and will become the first woman in the 240-year history of the United States to lead the presidential ticket of a major political party.

A strong showing in Puerto Rico's Democratic primary on Sunday and additional support from superdelegates put Clinton, 68, over the top on Monday night to become the presumptive nominee. She has secured 1,812 pledged delegates and 572 superdelegates for a total of 2,384 delegates -- one more than needed for the nomination.

Clinton's delegate count will grow Tuesday when six states, including delegate-rich California and New Jersey, hold contests. Speaking in Long Beach, California, on Monday, Clinton said she was still focused on the states where voters head to the polls Tuesday.

"We are on the brink of a historic, historic unprecedented moment but we still have work to do, don't we?" she said. "We have six elections tomorrow and are going to fight hard for every single vote, especially right here in California."

After three decades at the center of American politics as a pioneering -- and deeply controversial -- feminist icon, the victory brings Clinton within reach of finally cracking the "highest, hardest glass ceiling" she lamented eight years ago when she conceded the Democratic race to Barack Obama. The former first lady, senator from New York and secretary of state will officially become the Democratic nominee at next month's convention and will face presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump in a general election battle that is already shaping up as one of the nastiest campaigns in modern U.S. history.

Clinton has pounced on Trump's business record, character and tendency to use his platform to wage personal grudge matches to try to define him early on in the minds of voters as unfit for the presidency. Trump, for his part, is aiming to portray Clinton as a consistent liar who can't be trusted.

DEAR DONALD- An open letter by HILLARY CLINTON

DEAR DONALD-

An open letter by HILLARy CLINTON

Before you become the 28th person to be the Republican nominee for president, there’s something we want you to know:

You do not represent us. Your ideas don’t represent us. Your values don’t represent us.

And we are going to do absolutely everything we can to make sure you never, ever become president.
We believe in our country’s founding principle: that all people are created equal. That no matter the color of our skin, the faith we practice, how much money we have, or who we love, we all deserve a chance at happiness.

We all deserve to be treated with dignity.

You’ve spent your life looking out for yourself. When one of your businesses fails, you declare bankruptcy and pass the cost onto workers and small businesses. You say you’ll make America great again while manufacturing shirts in China and ties in Bangladesh, but who cares as long as you can fit that slogan of yours on a hat?

You bulldozed your way into this nomination by sowing anger, hate, and fear. Now you’re counting on Americans to be cruel and narrow-minded, because that’s what you are. But it’s not who we are.

That’s why you’ll always underestimate us, and it’s why you’ll never beat us. You fundamentally don’t understand what makes America great: We’re at our best when we stand up for each other.

Our country faces deep problems, from systemic racism and economic inequality to the overwhelming threat of climate change — and we won’t solve them by turning against each other. We’re going to work toward solutions that help all Americans, because we know that when people of all genders, races, and religions can succeed, we’re all better off.

Put another way, we’re stronger together. And when a bully comes after the people we love, we fight back.

So that’s exactly what we’re going to do. We’re going to enfranchise and empower as many Americans as possible, and on November 8th, you’ll hear our message loud and clear:

We’re better than this.

In this country, we stand for what’s right. We stand for tolerance and understanding, for love and kindness, for empathy and equality.

That means we stand against you.

Our names are listed below. Read and remember them -- we’re the people who are going to beat you this November.

Now you know exactly why.

EIU (The Economists Intelligence Unit) tips Hillary Clinton to win US elections

EIU (The Economists Intelligence Unit) tips Hillary Clinton to win US elections

The United States of America goes to the polls to elect a new president on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

however, it is widely  anticipated that the Democrats to maintain control of the White House.

It a report titled “Election 2016, The Unpopularity Contest,” EIU (Economic Intelligent Unit) states that Donald Trump is very much disliked by the US electorate.

“In the Republican primaries, this was not an issue, as the large field meant that he did not have to gain a majority of the vote to win each of the contests

He was also only appealing to members of his own party or to those who identify with it. But in the presidential election he will have to expand his appeal to swing voters and Democrats. This will be a struggle,” the report observes.

The report further says that with the manner in which the US electorate is becoming more racially and ethnically diverse, one out of every three voters will be either Hispanic, black, Asian or probably belong to another ethnic group.

If the above reason is anything to go by, it means Donald Trump will have a tall order to climb looking at how he had “described Mexican immigrants as rapist, called for a ban on Muslim immigrants and criticised a federal judge presiding over lawsuits against Trump University, claiming that his Mexican heritage created a conflict of interest.”

The report notes that for Mr Trump to win, he needs to secure a far larger share of white voters.

The IEU expects Ms Clinton’s formidable campaign machine to exploit Mr Trump’s weaknesses ruthlessly. She will target his temperament, his bullying manner and his mixed business record.

“Mr Trump’s willingness to be outspoken—and, indeed, to cross the line of acceptability—means that Ms Clinton is able to use below-the-belt tactics without appearing to run a cheap campaign.

Her Twitter feed has begun a volley of abuse towards Mr Trump, noting recently that he had “written a lot of books about business, but they all seem to end at Chapter 11”. Her lifelong experience of political campaigning gives her a formidable advantage over her opponent, a political novice

she will have more time to focus on strategy, as her well-oiled political machinery runs more smoothly than Mr Trump’s fledging operation,” the report adds.

Lastly, the report says the former first lady will probably inherit a fairly stable economy from President Obama, with a fall in unemployment rate and accelerating wage growth.

This, the report opines, will mean most people would want continuity rather than a change in government.

EIU claims  that Ms Clinton will have an advantage over Donald Trump due to the support she would receive from African-American, Hispanic and Asian-American voters
