In Church, Hillary Clinton Learns to be 'Nicer to the Press'

During remarks this morning at the Foundry United Methodist Church in Washington, D.C., where Bill Clinton, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton were celebrating the church’s 200th anniversary, the Democratic presidential candidate said she got some blunt campaign advice from her former pastor.

"I got some advice from Dr. Wogaman just earlier this morning, which I promise I will put into effect," Clinton, a lifelong Methodist, remarked from the pulpit, referring to former pastor J. Philip Wogaman. "Basically he said, if you’re going to read and listen to Romans 12 you got to be nicer to the press."

The Foundry United Methodist Church is where the Clintons worshipped during President Clinton’s two terms in the White House.

The former president Bill Clinton made an unexpected appearance at the service as well -- his third public appearance with his wife since she announced her candidacy for president. He did not speak, however, and was introduced by the church's pastor as "Hillary's husband" and "Chelsea’s Dad" -- a remark that drew some laughter and applause from the churchgoers.

During her speech, Hillary Clinton, who described herself today as a "Methodist both by birth and by choice," thanked the church for being a place where the Clintons "could worship, study, contemplate, be of service, get some good pastoral advice and step outside all the commotion of life in the White House in Washington.

Hillary Clinton had right to delete personal emails, says US justice department-

Hillary Clinton had right to delete personal emails, says US justice department-

U.S Federal Government lawyers made the assertion in a filing with the US district court in Washington as part of a lawsuit filed by a conservative watchdog group. Hillary Clinton had the right to delete personal emails from her private server, the US justice department has told a federal court. Lawyers for the government made the assertion in a filing this week with the US district court in Washington, part of a public records lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group that seeks access to Clinton’s emails.

Clinton, the front-runner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination, has been followed by questions about her use of a private email account for government business.

She has said she sent and received about 60,000 emails during her four years in the Obama administration, about half of which were personal and deleted. The others were turned over to the State Department.

The FBI has been investigating the security of Clinton’s email setup, which she said she used as a matter of convenience. She has since acknowledged her use of a private email server to conduct government business was a mistake and apologized this week.

Clinton asserts she had the right under government rules to decide which emails were private and to delete them. This week’s filing puts the justice department’s approval on Clinton’s claim.

“There is no question that former Secretary Clinton had authority to delete personal emails without agency supervision — she appropriately could have done so even if she were working on a government server,” attorneys from the Justice Department’s civil division wrote.

Judicial Watch had requested a court order from the judge to preserve Clinton’s emails. But the justice department said there was no need for such an order given Clinton had the right to delete personal emails and those messages are not subject to the public records law.

Hillary Clinton’s First Talk Show after Announcing her Presidential Candidacy

Hillary Clinton’s First Talk Show after Announcing her Presidential Candidacy

Since announcing her candidacy, In her first talk-show visit, Hillary Clinton largely remained away from weighty topics, though she did touch on a couple of serious subjects.

Appearing on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which taped earlier in the week and aired Thursday, the Democratic presidential front-runner Mrs. Clinton addressed questions of whether, at  67, she might be too old to serve as president.

“I would be the youngest woman ever elected,’’ said Clinton, echoing a line she used during her campaign kickoff event in June.2015

She also repeated an apology she first issued earlier this week over  her use of a private email server as secretary of State. She also said she was disappointed that Republican candidates didn’t offer more concrete policy ideas during their first debate.

On a lighter note, Clinton said that : “I’m fine with Grandma, I’m fine with Madam President.’’

A 5-year-old guest host named Macey Hensley, who’d memorized a series of presidential factoids, asked Clinton if it’s true that she hasn’t driven a car in 20 years.

“It’s not quite that long but pretty close,’’ Clinton said, citing Secret Service protection guidelines. “But I used to love to drive a car.’’

Other highlights include:

  • Clinton performing the Whip/Nae Nae, a dance from DJ Stephen “Twitch’’ Boss.
  • Comedienne Amy Schumer gliding across the stage in a blue body suit and red skates. When DeGeneres refused to join her, she asked Clinton instead. “I love her. I love the fact that she’s going after gun violence,’’ said Clinton.

Hillary Clinton: Syrian Refugee Crisis Is a 'Global Crisis'

Hillary Clinton: Syrian Refugee Crisis Is a 'Global Crisis'

When asked by MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell, previous Secretary of State Hillary Clinton informed that the USA should help to resolve the Syrian refugee crisis, but carefully added that a greater global reaction was required to resolve the issue.

Mitchell further asked Clinton, whether the U.S. should raise its proportion for Syrian refugees.

Clinton replied that "We should bear our share, as should the Europeans too; but this is a wider, global emergency,"  "We now have more refugees than we've had in many years -- I think, since the Second World War."

The Syrian crisis has displaced more than 4.1 million Syrians, and the U.S. has announced that it will accept 8,000 refugees in 2016.

Calling the crisis "heart-breaking," Clinton said that the issue was one that "the entire world now sees doesn't just affect the Syrian people; it upsets all of us. That's what I've been saying for years."

Clinton also said she supported doing more to arm moderate Syrian rebels early on in their fight against Syrian President Bashar Assad, a position that President Barack Obama disagreed with. Asked whether Obama's foreign policy caused the crisis, Clinton said that "the world's policies" were responsible.

WHY AMERICA BADLY NEEDS ABLE LEADERSHIP OF MRS. HILLARY CLINTON?

WHY AMERICA BADLY NEEDS ABLE LEADERSHIP OF MRS. HILLARY CLINTON?

USA witnessed many economic turmoil in the past. To avert such turmoil in the future, USA is badly in need of able leadership of Mrs. Hillary Clinton.

1920s -1930s:  The Great Depression –
The immediate post-war period was one of labour unrest and racial tensions. The depression originated in the United States, after the fall in stock prices that began around September 4, 1929. Unemployment in the U.S. rose to 25%. Businesses and factories shut down, banks failed. It had devastating effects in countries all over the world.
Franklin D. Roosevelt  said that- “Don't forget what I discovered that over ninety percent of all national deficits from 1921 to 1939 were caused by payments for past, present, and future wars.” ~

1960s -1970s: Mini-Recession
The U.S. economy entered into the so-called mini-recession of 1966-67. There was high levels of unemployment. Federal budget deficits grew, foreign competition intensified, and the stock market sagged. Military spending also increased as American's presence in Vietnam grew. Racial tension heightened. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated in 1968 which sparked multiple riots.

2000 - 2010:  Military spending

2000 - 2010:  Military spending increased in the US with its war on Iraq. In 2007 the Global financial crisis hits which resulted in billions in losses. The stock market crashed. Banks failed. Many companies closed their doors. Unemployment hit an all time high. Racial tensions in the US on the rise. The Global financial crisis leads to a slowing global economy and the subsequent European debt crisis.
To a certain degree some of these factors can be attributed as a cumulative effect of poor leadership on multiple levels.

HOW FUTURE OF THE AMERICA CAN BE ENSURED BY A GREAT LEADER – How Mrs. Hillary Clinton can address this Issue?

The Role of technology - Rapid advances in technology are constantly changing the way we lead. It is necessary to introduce the same in USA as and when it occurs.

2. Multicultural leadership - There has never been such a mix (melting pot) in the workforce as before. Embracing diversity is a must for every leader.

3. A Greater concern for followers - Millennials are expecting and demanding more: Reward, recognition and training and development is essential for job satisfaction. Another major concern is work life balance. Leaders must understand that a person’s work and personal life have reciprocal effects on each other.

4. Increasing interest in the integrity and character of leaders - The 1990s witnessed ethical lapses among senior executives and pointed to the fact that greater emphasis on leader’s character and values ought to be required.

5. Competitive global environment. The global playing field has levelled. Embracing change management (How to Be an Effective Change Leader) and a culture of learning is a crucial for an organization to be able to compete in the global marketplace.

After election, as the 45th President of America, Mrs. Hillary Clinton has to concentrate on the following:

·       To mitigate high employment rates by creating more jobs

·       To impose more strict norms on Wall Street to prevent future stock market crashes as in the past.

·       To impose strict  norms on banks to avoid future bank failures

·       To minimise the military spending – To Avoid future wars

·       To prevent racial tension by offering equal rights to all American citizens
